This idea is really an effort in BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION in wayward people.

This website is as of 2/21/2019 is going into a modified state.
Only the news section will be kept current as several contributors have passed away.
I, until my passing will continue to offer thoughts and commentary on the state of the situation, until my end as this is my passion.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Good day to new visitors who have found us, H.E.G.I.C. (Help End Guns In Crime), in a variety of ways, Welcome.

It is becoming more and more apparent that today we all are living in a ever increasing :CULTURE OF VIOLENCE" of all types.  One, however is much more troubling than all the others and that is "Gun Violence".  We need to be more PROACTIVE and LESS REACTIVE going forward in our efforts.

In February of 2011 I became sensitized over the tragic shooting in Arizona and thought I would try to get together with some friends to discuss what has been happening in our society over the improper and illegal use of guns.  I have discovered that there is plenty of interest with our silent citizens to find a better way to address gun violence and the tragedies that accompany it.

When we were about 25 strong we decided to put on paper some of our thoughts and become an email group.  The end result has been our position paper and a few other items that you can read here, and if you like, make a comment.  Our group is now at about 70 people strong and our thanks to each one that has contributed thus far to making our paper a success.

Several points very important to us are:

WE BELIEVE CHANGING THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF SOCIETY IS AS IMPORTANT AS A NEW LAW IDEA

    WE BELIEVE IN GUN OWNERSHIP

     WE SUPPORT THE SECOND AMENDMENT

WE WANT FREEDOM AND A FREE SOCIETY FOR ALL

FAIRNESS TO THOSE AFFECTED BY GUN VIOLENCE

     STRONG DETERRENT MESSAGE

     EASY TO UNDERSTAND, UNCOMPLICATED LAW

SOMETHING THE GUN OWNERS AND THE N.R.A. CAN FIND ACCEPTABLE

JUSTICE REFORM

Without pressing the point please read through our site and consider becoming part of this effort with us.  It is absolutely free relating to dues or financial support although we would like your thoughts and ideas.  See "about H.E.G.I.C." for sign up details.  On behalf of all at H.E.G.I.C. I want to thank you for reading all the sections of this website and being involved in this very serious issue that we believe can be made better. This discussion is about the typical street gun crimes and not about mass shootings.  Whether or not you become directly involved with H.E.G.I.C., it is a must that each of us establish a new personal habit of calling our elected officials on the local, state and federal levels when important issues like gun violence arise in your world.  The federal switchboard for both the house and senate is 1-202-225-3121 and 1-202-224-3121 respectively.
They will connect you to the offices of your government officials using your zip code and street address.  In the recent senate votes of April 2013 many states had "no" calls three times greater than "yes" calls for change and tighter laws.  We no-longer can remain silent if we want change.  When the polls (several) showed an 80 to 85 percent in favor for Universal Background Checks (as one example) and we don't get them, It means that the government officials did not hear from enough of us.  I invite you now to continue reading at the next title of this website.

Equally as important is for everyone that feel this idea is a step toward a better tomorrow, please take the time to send this website out to all your friends and contacts that would be interested in this project.
